Founded by philosophical counselor and professor Dr. Mackenzie Groff, Elevation of Wisdom offers a unique approach to personal growth — one that blends the richness of philosophical traditions, existential insight, and soulful dialogue with the practical tools needed to live a more grounded, expansive life.

The name Elevation of Wisdom carries both professional and personal significance. “Elevation” was the song she loved to sing with her late father, Dr. Steven Groff - an orthopedic surgeon, entrepreneur, and someone whose love, brilliance, and wisdom still echoes in her heart and the hearts of many. The name also speaks to a dream they would often discuss at length, a vision of helping others to rise above the everyday and see their lives from a higher vantage point. This practice continues that vision — creating a space where clients can step back from the noise of daily life and encounter themselves from a place of meaningful depth and transcendence.

This vision of helping people to see their lives from more expansive perspectives lies at the heart of philosophy itself. Stemming from the ancient Greek phílos and sophía, the word philosophy means “the love of wisdom”. Elevation of Wisdom calls on the same spirit of contemplative wonder that dwells at the core of the philosophical discipline to guide clients toward new and healing heights.

Her Mission

After earning her master’s and Ph.D. in philosophy, and spending years both studying and teaching it, Dr. Mackenzie Groff came to see philosophy not merely as an academic pursuit, but as a living art of healing. This insight about its power originally struck her in her first philosophy class in high school and has become even more apparent as she has continued her philosophical journey.

Across classrooms, writings, and conversations, she has witnessed how philosophical reflection can open a precious and unique space — one where thought becomes a vessel for transformation, and insight becomes a bridge toward wholeness. This recognition of philosophy’s innate transformative potential alongside her own experiences with profound grief led her to become a certified philosophical counselor. While she continues to find immense joy in teaching philosophy, she now also explores how its wisdom can extend beyond the classroom.

At the heart of her approach to philosophical counseling is the belief that healing begins in offering her clients a sacred presence: the sanctuary of being truly heard, seen, and explored without judgment. Through compassionate listening and philosophical reflection, she seeks to walk beside her clients as they uncover the wisdom within to live more enriched and fulfilling lives. Her mission is to help others elevate not only their thoughts, but also their very existence— so that wisdom becomes not just something studied, but something liberating, illuminating, and profoundly renewing.
